I’m a huge Hamilton fan. Like HUUUUUGE. So when I heard Lin-Manuel Miranda was working on the soundtrack for a new Disney movie, I was beyond excited. I had a plan: Memorize the soundtrack, see it in theaters, eat a ton of popcorn, and convey that excitement to all my bookworms through an amazing review. Considering it’s almost 4 months since the movie was released, you can tell that it didn’t really go according to plan. I suddenly had midterms, the semester was coming to a close, and I had a dance performance with way too many rehearsals.
Yesterday I went to a special showing of Moana for a local event. It was amazing. At first, I was like “Yes, I love this music!” Then the story got super intense, and I forgot about the music. The plot was amazing, and the music perfectly enhanced it, which is something I usually don’t notice, but paid special attention to this time. My favorite song was How Far I’ll Go, but I also loved We Know the Way. That scene literally gave me chills, and when I heard Lin-Manuel’s voice, I freaked out! The humor was better than many other Disney movies. There was something for everyone. Younger kids who might be scared by Tomatoa could laugh at Heihei the extraordinarily dumb chicken. Older children found Maui’s arrogance hilarious, and the Tomatoa scene during the song Shiny was funny for those who weren’t scared by it. Disney strikes again. It was also super deep. Below are some of my favorite symbolic quotes. “I can lead with pride, I can make us strong, I'll be satisfied if I play along. But the voice inside sings a different song, What is wrong with me?” “We are voyagers called to the sea, Called by the great god of the sea, Who puts up a challenge. We take on that good challenge, So prepare.” “Sometimes the world seems against you The journey may leave a scar But scars can heal and reveal just Where you are.” “And the call isn't out there at all, it's inside me. It's like the tide, always falling and rising. I will carry you here in my heart. You'll remind me that come what may. I know the way.” The last quote is my favorite. Using the sea as a simile for the call inside her heart? And put that to the tune of How Far I’ll Go? Classic Lin-Manuel.

Here we go....
I liked this movie a lot. But I also disliked it. It's complicated, and I shall explain those complicities. Suffragette is a historical movie with both real and fictional characters and events. The main character, Maud Watts, is fictional, a seamstress, wife, and mother living in England in the early 20th century. She is well aware that the suffragette movement is going on, but it's only when another worker at the laundry invites her that she joins the cause. While Suffragette has a good message and accurately portrays the UK's women's suffragette movement, it's a bit lacking in plot. The climax is great, and the ending is inspiring (I cried both times), but the beginning is slow and the middle is a little dull. Overall, it's good movie, but not great, though Helena Bonham Carter and Meryl Streep making it better (though the latter doesn't appear much, she's mostly just spoken of). "An FBI agent must go undercover in the Miss United States beauty pageant to prevent a group from bombing the event." ~IMBD description Starring Sandra Bullock as FBI agent Gracie Hart, this is an adventure of defiance, girl power, and epic action. Gracie Hart: the only federal agent qualified to go undercover at the Miss United States beauty pageant in order to prevent a group from bombing it. She finds there's a lot more to pageants than she originally knew. Overall it's a great movie, if a little superficial at times. The main themes throughout the movie are positive (girl power, proving yourself, etc.), and the protagonist Gracie is funny if not hilarious. However, the one thing that would've made the movie better would've been more action. This movie is marketed as a spy comedy. It's more of a romantic comedy. I don't have any problem with romcoms, and it's not like I needed an action-packed spy movie, but they could've added a little more spy action, just to support that aspect of the plot. I watched it on the plane coming back from a long, exhausting trip, so I may not have gotten every detail, so forgive me if I missed something. Paige and Claire are new. They're hoping to start the year off on a good note. Unfortunately, Paige somehow got one of the nicest girls in the school to hate her. Oh, and there's the problem of the popular girls, too.
And worst of all, someone is making everyone at school sick.Paige and Claire will have to team up with the nicest girl and her friend. Can they set they're disagreements aside long enough to solve this mystery? And I will not answer the question I just asked cuz that would totally ruin the movie for those of you who have not yet seen it. Amazing REAL 80's movie, perfect for a sleepover (trust me, I know all about sleepover movies).
Basically, a girl moves to a new school and meets a rebellious friend who persuades her to try out for a spot on a dance show. So she does. And she faces rich snobs, annoying know-it-alls, and a total cutie who definitely likes her. Now how's a girl gonna handle a situation like that? I have to say, this movie was pretty much flawless. It was fascinating, hilarious, and an amazing roller coaster ride. I'm recommending this to anyone who has the time to watch a movie! ~ Keep reading, Bookworm <3 Mockingjay Part 1. BEST MOVIE EVER!!!
And let's all take a moment to honor Eeka Mouse, The Hunger Games's #1 fan!!! And now for the actual review. Basically, Katniss is in District 13 with Finnick and Beetee. Peeta and Johanna (and Enobaria, but who cares about her) are in the Capitol, presumably being tortured by President Snow. Katniss is the mocking jay and she's trying to start a rebellion with the help of the people of District 13 and the survivors of District 12's bombing. I loved the movie, though it was not as good as the book. There were a lot of differences, but not as many as in the second Percy Jackson movie, where they totally remade it. Katniss cried a bit too much, in my opinion, but whatever! Other than that, this movie was AMAZING!!! Oh, and comment to tell me who your favorite character was! Btw mine was Cressida. She's so fearless! The biggest music video contest is here! Brittany and her friends are entering, but they've got serious competition. The Wiggies.
